"First Amendment"

Shirley Phelps-Roper, is a political activist who tries to use the First Amendment to defend her actions. She uses the First Amendment as an excuse to go picket solders funeral. While the devastated families have to bury their fallen heroes, they are left to deal with a group not to far protesting at their loved ones funeral. Shirley Phelps-Roper is the daughter of the Pastor from Westboro Baptist Church; this church believes that God hates America and that the reason why people are dying is because its God wants to punish this country. She believes that we shouldn’t sent solders to fight for a country that believes in gay rights. She thanks God for 911 and often uses her most loved phrase ““Thank God for dead soldiers.”It is sick to see her and her so called “church” picket a solders funeral. I strongly believe that she does not deserve the protection of the First Amendment because she uses the excuse of freedom of speech to condone her acts of protest. In 2006 President George W. Bush signed into law the “Respect for America’s Fallen Heroes Act”. This law broadly prohibits any type of demonstration unless the demonstration has been approved by the cemetery superintendent or the director of the property on which the cemetery is located.” But even so this still leaves room for this group to protest, once approved by the cemetery those group can still protest 150 feet from road and 300 feet from the cemetery, one hour before and after. I have seen a lot of people use the first amendment to excuse their wrongful doing, but I have never seen someone take it this far. So much has changed in the last 200 years, and some of the laws placed back then do not apply for this century. I strongly believe that we need to make changes to the United States Constitution to banned people like Shirley Phelps-Roper, who wrongfully uses the First Amendment to condone her actions.

Professors

This is one of my most exciting semesters because I finally figured out what I want to do for the rest of my life. Taking four classes this semester has made it hard on me but at the same time it has motivated me to continue my education. I was able to study two of my on-campus professors and I was able to distinguish both of their personality traits. One of those teachers is my psychology professor who is straight forward and does not appreciate others opinion. She is the type that will not respond to your question unless it is asked directly to her. For example if a student asks her a question and does not look directly at her or excuse themselves she will completely ignore them. This teacher is also a really tuff grader she will go as far as to take a letter grade off if we do not include our class number in our assignments. On the other hand, I give all the thanks to my other professor who has truly made his class enjoyable. I almost never ask questions in class because I'm usually either too shy to ask, or feel my question is too stupid to be asked. But in this class my professor makes it comfortable enough for us to ask questions. He is very smart and loves blogging, I see him in the future being an editor of a magazine or making his own web site. I have to say he has been one of my best teachers yet. These both teachers have different personality traits but in all they are both good at what they do. I'm sure that one day I'll look back and only remember the teachers who made an impact in my life, and the ones who made the semester enjoyable. From what I have seen so far I know for a fact that one of those teachers has already been implanted in my memory.

Solo El Eco by Jesus Adrian Romero

This song is introduced by a man singing about the emptiness he feels inside of him. He describes how he can only hear the echo and see the shadows of what he once knew. He expresses him self by saying that its not the same without God. He sees that all that’s let are the footprints and the perfume of what he once was and saw. He’s left with only the memories of the murmur of God’s voice. But even though he feels this way, he continues to say that he has a feeling that God will come back to him. This song then shifts when realizes he can’t stay the same, and is not satisfy with the way he is living his life. In the conclusion of this song he asks God to come back to his garden (his life) and to fill his heart with his fragrance. He asks God to scream into his interior to break the silence with his voice. He then reviles his inner feelings of not wanting to depart from God. This song is effective because he starts by singing about his loneliness but ends it with asking God to come back into his life. This song is an inspiration to my life, and can relate to all those that are trying to come back to the feet's of Christ.

Brief Summary on Rebuttal

How much is too much when it comes to protecting your kids from Sexual Predators. Whether it’s through the phone, or the web, technology has become a major source of communication for predators to interact with children. Therefore we must take extra precaution when dealing with kids who are constantly open to this technology. There are some “parents” like Lenore Skenazy that think that if parents try to prevent every possible danger in a child’s life, then that child never get a chance to grow up. She also believes that if we don’t give our kids freedom then we are taking away any sense of self-confidence or pride in them. I’m in total disagreement with her, I think that letting your kids do as they please is not a sign good parenting skills. Parents need to become more involve in a child life, like educating them about the dangers of online predators, and the dangers of giving their number away to  strangers. In 2009 the Online Victimization of Youth reported that %8 of the youth in their survey have actually met with someone met online. With this alarming number how can one not be worried about our children’s safety. Lenore Skenazy is the same women that lets her 9 year old child ride the subway alone, therefore I wouldn’t find any credibility in her opinion.

KJV or NIV? ~ (Extra Credit)

"Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite"... Huh?? That’s the first thing I thought when I read this verse. Talk about being confused, the more I tried to switch form a Spanish Bible to an English one the more I became to see how hard it was to understand the English interpretation of it. I attend a Spanish church, but on the Fridays its English service so I decided to buy myself an English bible I came across 2 but deciding lead me to a research. Will it be KJV (King James Version) or NIV (New International Version)? I once thought that the only difference between both of them was that one (the NIV) was a newer version of the original KJV. But I was extremely wrong, as I did my research I began to see the many defects that the NIV version had There are literally 40 whole verses deleted, and 300 verses that have been changed leading to 6 thousand changes in this version alone. I was completely shock to hear this although NIV provides readers an easier way to read the bible, it has shown to bring false doctrine. I would recommend some to purchase the New King James Version to help those who find the original version too hard to read. As the last chapter of the Bible says in Revelation 22 verse 18 and 19…. well just look at it for yourself and you’ll see!!!
